Driving to Morocco...

I'm leaving Sunday at midnight with François by car to Marrakech!
I will get to see my beloved Ahlam(!) and of course the Dance festival that Anania dance company (see photo) organizes for the first time in Morocco!
François will help with the stage management and I will do some filming. I'll be back around the 30th.
See info HERE!

Mother...Christmas?

That "father Christmas" story irritates me:
let's stop treating children as if they’re idiots...
We all know secretly that Father Christmas today is a big money making concept and nothing else (...anymore!).
My girlfriend's daughter leaves in Morocco and is traditionally Moslem but is becoming crazy about Santa Claus and "his"...presents.
My tradition is Greek orthodox and although I do not adhere to my church (or any other!) I'm conscious that my moral background is based on that tradition...
For me S. Claus symbolizes today the spoiling of western kids but also the need for warm hearted spirituality. Unfortunately buying and selling toys has nothing to do with warm heartedness...And religion usually separates people. Especially when certain toys are being manufactured by...kids for minimal salaries.

Let's create new myths and leave ancient saints alone!
Let's teach children to give the present of life to disappearing animals or give them the present of saving energy...
Above all let's respect children and find ways to stimulate their intelligence without spoiling them.

An excerpt from an interview with Patti Smith in
The Sun Magazine :

Patti Smith : It hasn’t always been this bad in Washington. I remember
that when Jimmy Carter was president, he actually inspired
me. He asked the American people to sacrifice. He asked us to
bring down our thermostats, to use less energy, to buy fewer
material things. He asked us to strip away a lot of what we
didn’t need and in that way to help our environment. He also
asked us to develop ourselves spiritually and mentally.
But what happened is that people found his requests offensive;
they didn’t want to sacrifice. Then Ronald Reagan
said to the people — and I’ll never forget this — he said that
American children deserve a bicycle in every garage. He wasn’t
talking about a chicken in every pot, or an education for every
child. He was saying that we deserve certain material possessions.
That made a big impression on me. All the way through
the Clinton era, people embraced this idea that we deserve
certain material things, that our children have to have them,
and if they don’t have them, then they’re deprived. This has
really hurt our country, the fabric of ourselves, our network
as human beings.
Greg King: After 9/11, George W. Bush told Americans to go
to Disney World, to keep buying things..."

The Mafia wants our food!!!

Friends of the Earth International Chair Meena Raman said in Hong Kong : "The WTO should not force anybody to eat genetically modified foods. The WTO is the wrong place to be deciding what we eat and how we protect our environment. It is time for the WTO to get its hands off our food! "

LAVA?

is Stephanie looking for...Lava in Iceland?

Driving through Europe

2800 KM!!!
I will never do this again!
Unless of course I have a co-driver and I avoid highways (toll is expensive...) and I take more TIME to discover places.
Still I enjoyed a few hours in the center of Belgrade and felt like a real stranger within a family. After the war not so many tourists come to visit Serbia...Too bad my friend Dejanna was busy with her family and I had dinner alone...I also had a bad incident with Moskau Hotel : they wanted me to pay 57 € although I had reserved for 33€ !!! New boss they said and new prices from september 1st. So I complained at the tourist information and they found me Prague Hotel close to Moskau hotel for 31€!
Of course it was not as charming as the other one...
The 2nd picture is from the place I slept in Waidring/Tirol in Austria!!!Only...16€ with delicious breakfast included!!!I was lucky that my dear friends Katerina and Anestis proposed me this village. For those of you with back problems i suggest putting the matress on the floor. I do that in almost all hotels. I know I'm spoiled with my pure latex matress...
The drive through Austria and southern Gremany was beautiful-beautiful!
SEHR SCHÖN JA???
In Karlsbab I picked two young people who contacted me through ALLO STOP! It's a wonderful service called carpooling (???) because it allows low budget travel (sharing expenses), meeting people and ecologically interesting!
I used gps to find my way through in Paris suburbs where I had to take them. Otherwise it would have taken hours in the traffic jam...
Finally I arrived home (?) in Tours after midnight; let's have a snoring party now...

breathless again?

Rehearsing with 35°C in humid Thessaloniki is not easy but seeing them in strange dance states is FUN! They made me want to dance more!
We are never ready for a premier (as most dancers feel...) but we will enjoy it! The...world premiere will be september 24th in the National Theatre of Northern Greece in Thessaloniki. It will be during the international month of dance organized by Dimitra Koronaiou, director of the municipal dance school.

A non utilitarian performance with the name Tsolias : today at 18:00 at the Beaux Arts of Tours, by Dimitri under the magnificent 200 year old Cedar tree...At some point it will be on...the tree. Tomorrow second try same time, same tree, same festival : Rayon Frais...

Absurd questioning of one's sensorial greek-french, spiderman like and almost contemporary movement behaviour.

Kangaroos for Self...

i avoid to focalise
into this silence
my solitary kangaroos are having a party
silence is hardly accessible...
one once said : be still and know
unstill : unknowing?
i promise to this self of "mine"
to be still right before sleep
planning to modify the dreamness of the bedroom
i might access the matrix of this bizare self
the kangaroos might move away
even the chapters of faintless melancholy?
my utilitarian awareness might experience bliss
i might transform to something not yet imagined
i might even laugh three times before sunrise...
O.K?

science + poetry?

Excerpt of Mae-Wan Ho's "the Rainbow and the WormScience" :
: "Science is to initiate us fully into the poetry that is the soul of nature, the poetry that is ultimately always beyond what theories or words say."
Science is "...an adventure of the free, inquiring spirit...the enigmas, the mysteries and paradoxes that take hold of the imagination, leading it on the most exquisite dance."

άπνοια.....

well yes, it's time to dive into a new breathing behaviour...Me and my friends at xsoma are cooking some new dance questions : how much silence can you fit between your breaths? How slow can you move so that the...matrix will not perceive you? ;-) How do you step on a curious concept like the "time" without falling into conventional timings? (Doug has some advice about that...) More info at www.xsoma.net
